We are experts in Dementia Care:

We have a wealth of hands on experience working with many clients and their families whom are living with Dementia and Alzheimer’s and have many years’ knowledge in this field.

We understand it can be such a difficult time as you finally come to realise you are unable to cope with often escalating care needs of a loved one with Dementia or Alzheimer’s then you have to decide which is the best option for your loved one’s care and support needs – as Dementia can display such a varied and complex set of behaviours which is different for every person. We meet many people who feel under such pressure stress and simply do not know here to turn.

What are options?

The choice you will be facing is will you decide on a care home that offers care and support for people living with dementia or staying at home which will often mean the need for live-in homecare. Many people we speak to do not realise that it is completely possible, and in most cases recommended that people living with dementia stay in the comforting and familiar surroundings of their own homes. Even clients with the most complex and challenging needs and behaviours have a right to stay at home and with the right carer who is experienced and qualified to offer this type of care and support it is often the best outcome for the client.

Reports show that it is far more reassuring for people living with dementia to remain in their familiar surroundings at home, moving into a care home can cause stress and fear of their new surroundings. An Alzheimer’s report also claims that 61% of people with Dementia felt lonely. Having one to one care from one or in some cases maybe two experienced and qualified dementia care carers allows the client to build a relationship based on trust and familiarity.

Dementia affects over 85-thousand people in the UK alone and that number is increasing daily.

We support friends of Dementia, which is an Alzheimer’s society initiative please have a look at their site at: We post regular blogs and attend training seminars around Dementia and Alzheimer’s care and support the initiative to change people’s perception of the disease.

All our carers are trained in delivering Dementia care, and many show a genuine interest in this area of learning. If you or someone you know is living with Dementia please give us call now to see how we can help.

We do not match clients living with dementia with carers who do not have a proven record in dementia care.

We offer our services to clients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and understand that Living with MS can be very complex for everyone involved, including carers and family. Homecare is a particularly important source of practical help. Occupational Therapists can provide aids and adaptations to the home, carers can help with daily tasks and needs, day care and respite care.

If a family member is the main carer in place we can offer short-term care designed to give both carers and clients with MS a break from the usual routine of caring and being cared for.

It’s essential that everyone involved has the support they need, and a complete care package is provided by the various services we offer.

Such a care package should address physical symptoms, psychological difficulties, as well as delivering financial and practical help.

Carers on Demand services provide support in your home and can provide, reassurance and relief to people severely affected by MS.

People affected by MS often say that their quality of life is greatly reduced. Depending on others for care can mean life could become isolated, there are many day centres or groups available in most areas, your local MS society branch can give advice. Families, carers and friends can also find that stress and frustration increase. These problems can be minimized if everyone makes an effort to ensure that quality of life is maintained. Technology has advanced, meaning that simple adaptions can now be made to your home to make life easier.

We have trained and experienced carers who can offer 24- hour care for clients living with MS.

Palliative care is the active holistic care of patients with advanced progressive illness. Management of pain and other symptoms and provision of psychological, social and spiritual support is paramount. The goal of palliative care is achievement of the best quality of life for patients and their families.

Carers on Demand can provide live-in carers who can deliver the following:

  • Affirm life and regard dying as a normal process
  • Provide relief from pain and other distressing symptoms
  • Integrate the psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care
  • Offer a support system to help patients live as actively as possible until death
  • Offer a support system to help the family cope during the patient’s illness and in their own
  • Offer all practical tasks required in the client’s home.

Palliative care is provided by two distinct categories of care professionals:

  • Those providing the day-to-day care to patients and carers in their homes.
  • Those who specialise in palliative care (consultants in palliative medicine and clinical nurse specialists in palliative care, for example)

Carers engaged with Carers on Demand can:

  • Assess the care needs of each patient and their families across the domains of physical, psychological, social spiritual and information needs
  • Meet those needs within the limits of their knowledge, skills, competence in palliative care
  • Know when to seek advice from or refer to specialist palliative care services
  • Advice and support to all the people involved in a patient’s care.
  • Know when to seek advice from or refer to specialist palliative care services
  • Advice and support to all the people involved in a patient’s care.

These services are provided by specialist multidisciplinary palliative care teams.

Many teams also now provide extended specialist palliative nursing, medical, social and emotional support and care in the patient’s home, often known as ‘hospice at home’.

We can offer, assistance and support to client’s that have suffered a stroke, either recently or in the past.

A stroke can affect the way a person’s body works as well as they think, feel, and communicate.

We work with clients who have suffered:

ISCHAEMIC STROKE – Caused by a blockage cutting off the blood supply to the brain.

HAEMORRHAGIC STROKE – Caused by bleeding in or around the brain.

TRANSIENT ISCHAEMIC ATTACK OR TIA – Known as a mini stroke. Symptoms last for a short amount of time and no longer than 24 hours. This is because the blockage that stops the blood getting to your brain is temporary.

Carers on Demand believe anyone affected by a stroke should maintain the highest quality of life.  We offer caring, empathetic, and person- centred care in their home, including rehabilitation, personal care, domestic care and support.

Please note this is not an extensive list of the conditions we offer care and support for, we do provide care for a variety conditions. If your condition is not listed here, please call us as our services are available to anyone over the aged of 18. We can provide care and support ranging from low care needs to higher complex care needs.

We are proud of our client reviews…

“I have to say that I have been very satisfied with the service provided by Carers on Demand. The manager was very careful in looking to find the right respite carer for me and my partner. Clearly, they match the client with the carer, and it has worked, as we are very happy indeed with the carer they have provided. I also found Carers on demand efficient and prompt, which very much helps during what could be a stressful process.”

“From the start when I met Emma the manager of Carers on Demand I knew we had found the care we had been looking for, for our parents. Emma was intuitive, she had a wealth of knowledge about the carers and caring and listened carefully to our specific needs. This was borne out when she told us that she knew the exact carer for our parents. Emma was absolutely right the carer was amazing. This has also been true of other care we have had to put in place, Emma handpicks the carers to suit your needs. Emma has responded to all our needs and this has been challenging from our side but she has responded with professionalism and support and always met our needs. I would highly recommend the service that is provided. Definitely 5 star service provided.”

Carers on Demand were so responsive to my husband’s needs, they listened to all of my instructions and listed every detail in the Needs Assessment. They were quick to introduce us to a lovely carer that can drive and I feel relieved that I no longer have to feel all the burden myself.

Mr D, London

An excellent service. I needed a carer for my husband while I went away, the manager carried out a comprehensive needs assessment beforehand so that the carer had all the information she needed to look after my husband. Maria the carer was very good, she did a great job and left the house really clean and tidy at the end of her stay. I have just booked in my second respite booking and I was offered the same carer again which was excellent news.

Carers on Demand are a really great agency. My mother has never been happier being able to live at home and being supported to be as independent as she can be. The carer is lovely. Carers on Demand fully vet their carers and matched a carer to my mother perfectly. What could have been a very stressful time for us was made so straightforward and easy. Thank you, Carers, On Demand. I would recommend this company to anybody seeking Live-In care for their parents as an alternative to putting them in a home.
